The common cold in babies is a viral infection caused by many different types of viruses. Toddlers often catch at least 6 colds per year.

Children are more prone to the common cold in babies than adults due to their underdeveloped immune systems. Cold weather is most common in winter, making it easier for viruses to spread. Sometimes, a baby recovers from an infection and may get sick again with a different viral infection.

It may feel like they are “always sick,” but this is part of building their immune system. The common cold in babies is also more frequent as they grow older and are exposed to external environments, making them more susceptible.
